2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

All-New Porsche 911 Cabriolet Features Modern Roof Design

What the Coupe started with the brand new aluminium-steel body, the Cabriolet continues with the all-new, distinctive hood: As a result, the everyday 911 roof line is retained in its entirety. Intelligent lightweight design, even including the usage of magnesium within the hood, ensures less weight and extra sportiness.

Porsche is introducing two new cabriolet versions of the not too long ago unveiled seventh-era 911 Carrera. These new models, the 911 Carrera Cabriolet and 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, will be available in the United States within the spring of 2012.

Just like the coupe, the 2012 911 Carrera cabriolet options revolutionary aluminum-metal development with the addition of an all-new convertible top design, which preserves the typically smooth 911 coupe roof line. Intelligent light-weight design that features intensive use of aluminum, magnesium and advanced high energy metal ensures lower automobile mass and decrease fuel consumption while providing improved driving dynamics and additional comfort. As with the 911 coupe models, the brand new Porsche open-top models are considerably lighter than their predecessors.

The brand new 911 Carrera cabriolet can accelerate from 0-60 in as little as 4.4 seconds and achieve a top-track-speed of 177 mph, whereas the 911 Carrera S cabriolet can attain 60 mph in as little as 4.1 seconds and has a prime-observe-velocity of 187 mph.

Every of the 2 new cabriolets uses the identical engine as their coupe equivalents. The rear of the 911 Carrera homes a 3.4 liter boxer six-cylinder engine with direct gas injection (DFI) producing 350 horsepower (hp), driving the rear wheels by way of a normal seven-speed manual transmission or an non-obligatory PDK twin-clutch automated manual transmission. The open-top Carrera S comes with a 3.8- liter boxer six-cylinder DFI engine growing four hundred hp. The open-top 911s are significantly extra environment friendly than their predecessors; both models consume lower than 10 L/one hundred km on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) figures will likely be obtainable nearer to the on-sale date.

With the longer wheelbase, wider front track and host of new options just launched on the 911 Carrera and Carrera S models, the new cabriolet variants provide sportier driving traits, larger precision and agility and elevated efficiency.

On sale within the spring of 2012, the 911 Carrera Cabriolet MSRP is $97,300, while the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet MSRP begins at $108,000.

College degree is best path to a middle class income

A study released Monday by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce found the best path to middle class income is through a postsecondary education.

These are the key highlights from the report:

Jobs for workers with high school diplomas are in decline.

Jobs for middle skill workers (jobs for workers with some college, a certificate, or an Associate’s degree) will make up 29 percent of the workforce by 2018.

Manufacturing will continue to decline in total employment, though there will still be 2 million job openings from retiring Baby Boomers.

The gender gap in wages varies greatly from cluster to cluster. For example, the gap in Architecture and Construction is $2,000; in Health Science, it is $69,000.

The study also examines which sectors of the labor market afford individuals the best route to a middle class income.

Using forecasts, it identifies the most promising clusters for job seekers with a high school diploma or less, middle skills such as a certificate or Associate’s degree, and those with Bachelor’s degrees or better.

Amazon Kindle Fire

Amazon Kindle FireHere’s a tip for you.

According to market research firm IHS iSuppli, Amazon is selling the Kindle Fire below the cost to manufacture the tablet computer.

Amazon is selling Kindle Fire at US$199 while it costs US$201.70 to manufacture.

Kindle Fire has a Full Color 7″ Multi-touch Display with Wi-Fi.

IHS iSuppli’s Andrew Rassweiler said ‘The Kindle Fire, at a retail price point of US$199, is sold at a loss by Amazon, just as the basic Kindle is also sold at a loss at the current US$79 retail price point.’

Why are they doing this?

‘Amazon makes its money not on Kindle hardware, but on the paid content and other products it plans to sell the consumer through the Kindle,’ Mr Rassweiler said.

I want a Kindle Fire for Christmas.

Warren Buffett invests $10 billion in IBM for 5% stake

While the world is following the European debt-crisis, and the change of Greek prime ministers, the world’s most successful investor, Warren Buffett, Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK-A) just revealed that he has purchased US$10.5 billion of IBM (NYSE: IBM) shares.

With this purchase, Warren Buffet now owns 5.5% of the shares in IBM. This is Berkshire portfolio’s second-largest in terms of market value. It is also Buffett’s first major move into technology.

How is this purchase in line with Buffett’s overall strategy?

“I don’t know of any large company that really has been as specific on what they intend to do and how they intend to do it as IBM,” said Warren Buffett.

Robert Hagstrom, manager of mutual-fund Legg Mason Growth Trust LMGTX and author of “The Warren Buffett Way” shared “The most important attribute about the IBM purchase that I find consistent is its methodical capital allocation,” IBM, he noted, “continually reduces share count, it methodically allocates cash to the dividend, and has laid out clearly a roadmap for more capital deployment.”

So how does Buffett make his picks? What is “Warren’s Way?”

In his public remarks and annual letters to Berkshire shareholders, Buffett says he buys stocks that are “available at a sensible price.”

The following tips are the five specific investment criteria Buffett check to find value:

•Free cash flow net income after taxes, plus depreciation and amortization, less capital expenditures) of at least $250 million.

•Net profit margin of 15% or more.

•Return on equity of at least 15% for each of the past three years and the most recent quarter.

•A dollar’s worth of retained earnings creating at least a dollar’s worth of shareholder value over the past five years.

•Ample liquidity. Only stocks with a market capitalization of at least $500 million are included.
